From Leipzig, the route goes via the district of Wachau directly to the lakeside circular route at Markkleeberger See. This section of the route is a scenic highlight, the former open-cast mining area is now the heart of the Leipzig Neuseenland with numerous tourist opportunities. From Markkleeberger See, the route heads east via Güldengossa across the former battlefields of the Battle of the Nations. Here, half of the half marathon Leipzig is completed. In the further course of the route it goes to Liebertwolkwitz, large areas were marked by the Battle of the Nations in 1813.

The course runs past the Galgenberg with the Galgenberg Monument, which was created in 1852, and past the Russian-Prussian Monument, which was inaugurated 30 years ago to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the Battle of the Nations. The route then leads into the Meusdorf district of Leipzig.
